Jack

For FHE we carved our pumpkin and Brighton thought it was a ton of fun. We told her we were making Jack O' Lanterns, and she called the pumkin Jack for the rest of the night. Now, everytime we walk out the door she says goodbye to Jack. She was a little grossed out by the insides, but braved holding it for a minute and helping daddy pull out the stuff every now and again. Also, we had the brilliant idea to put Porter in the pumpkin because he's just that small and would fit in it, but obviously from the pics, he was not a fan. Don't think we're the worst parents! We just thought it would be a cute photo op, but we were sadly mistaken. Oh well. Maybe next year he'll enjoy Halloween festivities a little more. And we won't torture him as much!

Puzzle Play

Today I was in the bathroom running Brighton's bath water and when I came out to bring her in, I found this. She said that "Brother wanted to play with me." which apparently meant that he wanted all the puzzle pieces piled on top of him. I found it a little comical. She already wants to get him active and play! I can't wait until they actually can run around together.

Chef BoyarBee

I know I've said this before, but Brighton loves to help cook. Her awesome Aunt Keri made this super cute apron for her birthday a while ago and she absolutley adores it. Thanks Aunt Keri for your amazing creative abilities! Anyway Lil' B is a super big helper and loves cooking breakfast for daddy every morning.

Twinners

I was looking at pics today of Brighton when she was in the hospital and found that we took almost the same picture of Porter. It's crazy how much they look alike. You be the judge. Porter

Big Sister Balloons

So have I told anyone that my parents are the best? The day after we got back from the hospital, my parents sent Brighton some flowers and balloons to say congratulations on becoming a big sister. She walking around with the balloons and calls them her "big sister balloons". She's been so proud of them, I can't get her away from the kitchen table. It helped the whole baby transition, that's for sure. Thanks so much mom & dad!

P.S. Here's a pic of the little guy. I figured people would probably want to see more pics of him. This one isn't that great, but I thought it was funny because his binks basically cover his entire face!

A Babied Baby Shower

My awesome sister-in-law Casey and great friend Corynn wanted to throw me a baby shower and the plan was to have it on Oct. 11. Well, we thought that would be plenty of time before the baby came, but no such luck seeing as he came on the 8th! So it was kinda funny, but we had a the baby at the baby shower, which was a lot of fun. Not that many people showed up, so we were able to just sit and chat all afternoon. Also, probably the best gift I recieved at the party was Annie! My other awesome sister-in-law surprised me and came down from Provo to attend! It was great to see everyone I really enjoyed the time together. Annie brought Landon who's 6 months younger than Brighton so they had a great time together too! Thanks to everyone who made my day so special!

Annie, me and Casey. I have the greatest in-law family.
This is Brighton, Landon and Porter. What cuties!
Casey did the greatest job on the shower! Thanks again Case!

Thanks also go to Corynn for such a great day!

Just a few of the many gifts I was showered with. Thanks again to everyone!

A Big Surprise!

There came a big shock to us on Wednesday morning, when our little baby came to the world!

Introducing...

Porter Oakes Comin

6 lbs. 8oz. 19 inches

So here's how it went down: After I got done posting our last post on tuesday night, I was feeling a few contractions, but nothing too big and heavy. Well, I woke up at 1:00 in the morning and was feel the contractions about 10 minutes apart, but my midwife said not to even worry about them until they were 2-3 minutes apart. So I tried not to think about them. By about 5:00, Kyle decided to draw a bath for me because they say it will feel better. So when I got into the tub, Kyle went to pack our bag, just in case. All the while, I'm thinking that the contractions will stop soon and these were just Braxton Hicks. When Kyle came back into the bathroom, he looked at me and said "You're water just broke." I had no clue. All of a sudden I had this sensation to push! So Kyle went to call Casey and Ty to come watch Brighton, but by this time I was reasy to have this baby out! They came over in about 3 minutes and we were on our way to the hospital . While I was in the car, it was I could do to hold the baby in! Turns out I was crowning in the car! We got tto the nurses station, Kyle told them my water broke and I felt like I needed to push. They all started getting a little frantic and wheeled my into the room. They put me on the hospital bed, one of the nurses checked to see that I was fully dilated and when they all kind of turned around to get their gloves on, I had a contraction and Kyle yelled "She's crowning! The Baby's head is out! The body's out!" The nurses turned around and couldn't believe it! So they admitted me at 5:58 and he was born at 6:00 on the dot. For the rest of our stay we were the famous 4 minute baby because that's how long I was at the hospital total before the baby came. It was a pretty wild ride! But he is cuter than ever and couldn't wait to come into the world!

Conference Weekend Fried Fun

For Conference weekend, we went over to Casey and Ty's and spent the entire weekend cooking, eating, listening to great speakers, and loving our lives. We decided to make sweet and sour chicken and honey shrimp, which Tyler made and it was amazing! After our fried dinner, we made donuts. It was quite the assembly line and Brighton was even trying to help (although, she was just eating all the coconut). Needless to say, it was a success! I felt about 5 pounds heavier, but it was worth the weight!
Casey & Ty cooking up a storm!Brighton was seriously loving the coconut! She couldn't get enough!
Everyone's enjoying the treats!
Delish!

Uncle Ty put Brighton up on the windowsill and she thought it was cool after she got over the fright. We just had a blast at their house like every other weekend! The only downside to the event was Kyle and his wierd ideas. He said the only kind of donut he wanted was butterscotch frosted donuts. Well, we made him 3 donuts, all the while thinking that it wouldn't taste that great. When we all sat down to eat, he took one bite and thought it was disgusting. He loves maple covered donuts and thought they'd taste the same. He was sadly mistaken. We ended up eating his donuts while he sat back and ate the others. I don't even like maple or buttersctotch! And he wouldn't even finish it! What a baby! Well, we all had a good laugh and he won't be able to live that one down. Now we all now the difference between butterscotch and maple flavors.

Roped

Yesterday Casey brought over these licorice ropes from work for Brighton and thought it was hilarious because they're longer than she is! Well, she absolutely loved them and wanted to show them off for all to see. Thanks Aunt Casey for the sugar rush!
