Easter Events

So this is a little overdue and by the coaxing of my father, I have needed to post! So here is the rundown on our Easter events. The day before, we painted Easter eggs for the first time and Brighton had a blast. She thought it was so cool when the eggs changed colors. Anyway, the next day, Brighton found her homeade easter basket (which we made for family night the previous week) and loved finding her eggs that were hidden in the house. As you can see, she was so proud of her discoveries and dove into the candy right away. Her favorite Easter item I think though, was the stuffed bunny that her great-nana sent to her. She's been carrying it around ever since she got it! Anyway, thanks Nana and we hope everyone had a great Easter day!

Spring Break

So Kyle has had the past week off for Spring Break and we decided to go up to the Provo Area to see his fam. It was a lot of fun to see everyone. We were able to go skiing for the first time in 2 years which was great! The down side of it all is that I forgot to even get the camera out so this is the only pic from the the whole 5 day trip! Anyway, it was fun and we really enjoyed the time off! Next week when he goes back to school, he'll be so busy, we won't see him till the end of the semester so we're loving the time together!

Pat's Proxy Party

One of our closest friends named Patrick Meegan had a Birthday on Friday. His family lives here in Cedar but Pat and Clarissa live all the way in Ogden, so we thought we'd have a party honoring him even though he wasn't able to attend. We had a great time with Kate, Bubs, Al, and Jo (or Grandma Jo as she is referred to by Brighton). They even brought Lil' B a present, because she stood as Pat's proxy for the day. We had cake, ice cream, and all the b-day foolery one could ask for! We had a great time and we hope Pat had a great time on his special day, because it only comes around every 4 years! Thanks Montoyas and Grammy Jo for a fun-filled evening!

Technical Difficulites

I'm trying to revamp the blog so excuse the changes and what not! Nothing else is going on here. The weather is getting nice, so we're trying to get out more often and hopefully we'll have more pics and blogworthy stories. Until then, have a great spring!

Tennis & Tupperware

Nothing much has been going on in our household lately. On Saturday, we went to our friend's tennis match which was fun. She plays for the SUU, so she's pretty good and it was actually fun to watch. Brighton is in love with Emmi (our tennis-pro friend) so she kept trying to go out onto the court. Brighton even made her a poster to hold up when she won the match! It was a lot of fun and changed things up from our mundane life. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera, so here are some pics of Brighton's favorite thing to do instead: climb into the tupperware cupboard and go crazy! Enjoy!

Happy V Day...Love, Cupid

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day! Brighton got all dolled up and transformed into a cupid for the occasion! It was fun to have a little photo shoot! And I wanted to give a shout out to my amazingly talented friend Beth Summers for creating this awesome kit I used for the this page! She is great and you can find her stuff here

Little Alaskan Chica

My parents got these Carhartt overalls for Brighton for Christmas and she loves to wear them! She looks like a true Alaskan in them! Thought I'd just share a few cute pics of her sporting the AK style! Thanks again Mom and Dad!

It hit me

I just wanted to join in with the many other people across the blogging world that have expressed their condolences concerning the passing of Pres. Hinckley, the 15th President of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It didn't really hit me until the funeral on Saturday, that he's actually gone and we won't hear his loving and humorous words over the pulpit ever again. I'm grateful he could return to his wife and our father in heaven, but it's still heart-breaking for the world and that's including me! He will be missed. Anyway, just wanted to share that with everyone.

It's a Downer

Absolutely nothing new going on with us. My trip to Ogden to see Clarissa got cancelled so I'm pretty bummed about that. Other than that, no eventful occurences. Brighton loves wearing these goggles around the house and I think she looks like a goof with them. We've been pretty stir-crazy with the winter lately and have been dying to go out (thus the crazy apparel and me actually allowing the crazy apparel at all times of the day). It's been very miserable. Sorry for the downer of a post. Hope it's going well in other people's necks of the woods.

Little Big Foot

Lately, little Miss Personality has decided that dress up is her new favorite thing. I won't hear her for a while only to find out she's been hiding in my closet, trying to find the perfect pair of shoes to go with her outfit. Then she'll come out of my room wearing my high heels or anything with a resembles a dressy shoe. The sad thing is she's practically better than I am at walking in the heels! She diligently seeks out mommy's shoes because apparently she feels grown up wearing them. Can I just tell her to slow down?! She's growing up WAY too fast! Anyway, that's the fun and new little thing in the Comin household. Don't be surprised if you see pictures of our little big foot in the future (Note: If you haven't already noticed, the previous post shows her wearing my black church shoes. I believe this is the beiginning of a shoe fetish passed on from her mother!)

Our Pink Elmo

For Christmas, my grandparents sent the classic Tickle Me Elmo and this cute shirt that makes Brighton look like a pink Elmo. Elmo is about as big as her but it is her favorite new toy to carry around. She will put it in her new baby stroller (That my parents gave to her) and drive that thing around for hours. And the minute she opened the package with this shirt inside, she was trying to put it on all by herself! She hasn't stopped wearing it since. Anway, she has been having family withdrawals since my parents and Nana left, so Elmo is a great new companion. Thanks Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Hotchkiss!

Cedar Visitors

These past 2 weeks we've had some very special guests at our house. First, my Nana (Brighton's great-nana) visited us for New Years and a fews days after. It was fun for Kyle and Brighton to finally meet her. Brighton was instantly in love with her. We had a great time going to the local museum, visiting Zion National Park, and just hanging around watching movies. It was a long overdue visit and we're glad we got to be together. We even got to try some of Nana's famous spaghetti sauce which was delish!

After a few days, my parents came to visit from Alaska and we had a blast hanging out. We planned on going skiiing and the pic above looks like we had a great time, but in actuality, there was only like one lift open due to windiness and we found that out after we got on all our gear and went to go get our lift tickets. So we ended up turning around and going home, but I guess it made for a good photo shoot. We also took them to Zion's which was gorgeous. We even went on a little winter hike around the canyon. It was great! Anyway, after a tearful goodbye, they left us yesterday night and we are all a little lonely. We'll just have to use our new webcam like crazy I guess!

Yummy Bath Wigs

So Brighton recieved Bubble bath in her stocking for Christmas and now there is no going back to ordinary baths! She loves the stuff! The feel, the taste, etc... (Yes, I said taste and we are frantically trying to ween her off of suds but she just can't get enough!) Kyle's new favorite pasttime is to make bubble wigs for lil B' which she in turn loves to show off for the camera! Anyway, she's having a blast and we're just grateful bathtime is still a fun time for her!

A long awaited update

Okay so the holiday seasons definitely aren't my forte when it comes to blogging, but here I am amidst the start of a new year to tell you all to have a happy one! I wanted to finally share a few things that have been going on these past few weeks. Well, Kyle finished his first semester of Nursing school with flying colors on the 15th and after that, we headed up to visit Kyle's family. It was so fun to meet little Timmy (Brighton's new cousin) who came into the world on Oct. 31. We went up to go to his baby blessing which was great to see Mike and Sarah and the whole Comin gang (Annie, Joe, Landon, Keri, Dan, Olivia, Will, Van, Wendy, Casey, Tyler, etc...) It was fun to see Kyle's cousins and a ton of family! We stayed at Kyle's parents house and it was nice to just relax after a long semester. We even met up with Kyle's old roomate Mike George and his wife Tiff and their little boy Braiden and caught up on life with them. It was great! Then on the 21st, we caravaned back to Cedar City with the Meegans and spent most of the Christmas weekend and Christmas with the Montoyas (Our Cedar Family). It was seriously the best to see everyone and have a Christmas at home! Brighton got to open presents at home and she finally started getting the hang of it which was fun. She got to open her Christmas pjs the night before so she looked extra Christmassy on the day of. Brighton thought Gracie was the coolest and they played together really well while we all visted for hours on end. We miss them already! Next, a day after the Meegans left, our great friends the Grahams stopped by while they were passing through and we all went out to eat. Kyle lived with Sterling Graham and his family in Alaska for a summer while he was in college so he's really close to his family and Sterling's parents even came to visit which was great. A few days after that, my Nana came to visit for the Holidays (New years and what-not) and is currently here entertaining Brighton. Brighton is in LOVE with her (as you can see from the pic) and we're having a great time! I haven't seen my Nana since I graduated from high school so it has been a desperately needed trip! My parents fly in on Thursday so we'll all be together and it is so exciting! Anyway, this has definitely been the break of many visits which doesn't seem to stop anytime soon, but we love the companyand fun!

A Very Late Thanksgiving

Oh my gosh! Can i just say that I'm the worst blogger of all time?! SO things have been kinda busy but my big excuse is that our computer has o much stuff on it that it is taking 2 years to do anything so it's almost impossible to post. I know I just need to clear everything off so I think that will be my Christmas project. Well, much has happened but I'll start off with a Thanksgiving update. We went to Kyle's mom's house (Grandma Kathy) and met up with his sister Keri and Brother-in-law Dan. They have Olivia who is 3 months younger than Brighton so they had a blast playing together. Dan brought his new gun so we all went shooting for a little while and it was fun (note my awesome stance as I fire it off.) After the Thanksgiving festivities were over, Keri and I went to Park City at midnight to hit all the sales. I know, we're crazy, but it was fun to hang out together and feel the excitement of the hunt! I found Brighton a winter jacket that was 70% off so that made me feel good. Then we went home and took a long nap.
AFter Kyle's Mom's house we stopped by his parents' house in Cedar Hills and spent the day watching the BYU/Utah football game and eating leftover thanksgiving goodies. We stayed the night at Tyler and Casey's (our brother and sister) throughout the trip and it Brighton was loving her life hanging out with her Aunt Casey and Uncle Ty. All-in all it was a super busy, but super fun trip! More on the recent happenings in our life soon!

Mr. Prez and the Pledge

On Monday, Kyle had his nursing pledge ceremony which is basically a white coat ceremony signifying entrance into the medical profession. In this they recite a pledge that the class has come up with to dedicate themselves to nursing. Anyway, it's kind of a big deal and since Kyle is the President of his class (which we are so proud of!), he had to organize the whole thing, including invitations, programs, speakers, a dinner, etc... So he has basically been running around with is head cut off for the past week! The ceremony went really well and we're proud of his hard work, but he is very thankful it is over and we're thankful that we have a daddy and husband back (For the time being).

The Mustachioed

When Kyle wears his bandana, he loves to put one on Brighton too! Here they are twinners which Brighton seems to be tickled by. Also, I have to apologize for the nasty hair growing on the upper lip of my husband. Every year around Halloween, he seems to think that it's cool to grow a mustache. Who does that?! He tries to come up with a costume that will incorporate the said hair, but never ends up dressed as anything. So I told him that if it wasn't gone the day after Halloween, then I can't make any promises that it won't be gone when he wakes up in the morning (I've threatened shaving before but never had to resort to it.). Anyway, to my joy I awoke to a freshly shaven husband on Nov. 1st and things couldn't be better!

Hall of Fame Halloween

It's a little late I know, but I still wanted to show some of the pictures we took of the Halloween festivities we partook of. First off, Brighton was a little ladybug which suited her well and I was a butterfly, so we were a family of insects. I must have forgotten how fun it is to go trick-or-treating and get into the occasion because we had a blast dressing up and walking door to door. Maybe I can blame the past begrudging feelings on the holiday due to the fact that in Alaska we had to think of any costume that would fit over our snow suits. By 6:30, we'd be numb and go home with very little candy. Not so much of a fun holiday.

Anyway, here in Cedar it was a gorgeous day out and we could sport the costumes to our hearts content. We started the day off by going to our weekly storytime where everyone wore their costumes and Halloween stories were read. It was so fun to see all of our friends in their costumes! Brighton was loving seeing all the different outfits! Fun fun! Later on that evening we went out on the streets to hit up the neighborhood for the sweet stuff! It was so fun watching Brighton walk up with her little bucket (that was about as big as her!), knock on the door, and get excited when they put a treat in her pail! We loved it! She's at the age where she's just starting to understand things like this so it was a blast. Maybe it's the whole having a kid thing and doing the whole shebang for her, but Halloween has never been this fun before!

Brighton and me walking to the door. She just started getting the hang of trick-or-treating here.
She definitely caught on quick! She grabbed a huge handful of candy and went back for more before I could catch her!
Brighton the ladybug and her friend Kayson the pirate showing off their costumes together!

Brighton stealing a bite of pumpkin. P.S. Pumpkin is her new favorite word to say.

Also, the Monday before Halloween we decided to carve our pumpkins which I'm honestly not a fan of due to all the nasty insides that it seems like gets everywhere in your house no matter how many newspapers you put down. Well, we carved and Brighton really wanted to be a part of the action so Kyle put a piece of pumpkin on her highchair so she could play with it and the next thing we know, half of it was gone! She ate it! Luckily there were no sick tummies or nasty diapers, so she's alright! It ended up being pretty fun though and we were glad to see daddy because he's been SUPER busy with school. It was actually a great family night. Anyway, Halloween is starting to grow on me and this has been the most fun one we've had since...ever.
