We decided to have Brighton's birthday party a few weekends after her actual birthday so it could be warm enough to have a pool party. So last Friday was the big day! She has honestly been talking about having a hula party since the day after she turned 3 so this party has been in the works for a while. The fun thing about her age now is that she can make up her own mind, so she chose all the party favors, the cake she wanted, everything. And to our good fortune we have a former party planner in our ward who happened to do luaus all the time so we were able to borrow a lot of fun decorations (sorry, we didn't get too many pictures of the paper lanterns, tiki torches, etc..but it was fun to deck the house out). Anyway, it turned out great. The weather was fantastic for the pool, the kids were all happy, it didn't take long for Brighton to be excited about all the attention ...it was great!
She insisted on a mermaid cake and I thought it kind of went with the water theme so I didn't mind making it for her.
Even though it doesn't show in this picture, she loved going out and playing in the water with all her friends.
After the pool we went back inside for cake and presents and ended the party with full tummies and happy faces. The party was a success and now that she's had both the actual day and the festivities, she says she can officially be 4!
