Arlington and more

Continuing with our VA trip, while my parents were in town, we all decided to go to Arlington National Cemetary for Memorial Day which seemed pretty appropriate. We really enjoyed walking around and seeing the changing of the guard, the eternal flame and a lot of gravesites. It gave me a greater appreciation for our country and the people who serve for it. Also, right down the road is the Iwo Jima Statue so we took a walk and saw it. It is amazing how huge the statue is! All in all, it was a very patriotic day and we felt proud to be Americans.

It's an....interuption

I just wanted to interupt my Virginia trip events to tell you all the big news... It's a BOY! We found out last Friday and couldn't be happier! Now we'll have one of each! Anyway, just thought we'd let the blog world know the good news!

Strawberry Festival

While my parents were in VA, we went to a local strawberry festival which was fun except for the fact that all the strawberries were all gone! The festival was at a u-pick farm and all the strawberries had been picked by 9:00 in the morning! Anyway, we had a lot of fun and there were lots of kid things to do which made Brighton happy. Anyway, it was a fun day and we enjoyed having Nana & G-Pops around to play.

Finally An Update

Well, I'm back in Utah for a few weeks for some doctor's appointments, so I thought I'd update gradually. For the first little bit of our Virginia trip, we had a lot of visitors! My grandparents came up from Florida and met Brighton for the first time ever. They loved playing with her and it was fun to see them after more than 2 years. Then my parents came from Alaska to visit the capital and we all had a great time. It was fun to see 4 generations all together. I'll continue the trip's events tomorrow.

We're not dead

I just wanted to say thanks for all the kinds comments in the previous news on my blog. My friend has the internet for her job so she lets me get on every now and again, so you might be hear from me throughout the summer. Just to let everyone know, we're alive and well in Ashburn, VA and it's been really fun so far. The ride here was rough on Brighton but she was a trooper. Now that we're here, we've been to D.C. a time or two and have enjoyed the sights. My parents are coming this week so I'm excited. I'll keep everyone informed on our comings and goings sporadically. Talk to you soon!

The Real Big News

Okay, so I think Beth guessed right in a previous comment because the last and big post before we head off to VA is...We're Pregnant! We are about 15 weeks along and things are going well. Kyle loves writing on Brighton's belly so the big news is pictured above if you couldn't already tell. Little B is super excited (as excited as a 2-year-old can be) and even knows that the baby is in mommy's belly. So anyway, the cat's out of the bag and the word is out!

The B-Day Girl!

Today is the big day that Brighton turns 2! I can't believe 2 years has already passed by! It's crazy! Well, since we've been kinda stressing over packing and moving, we didn't do much for her birthday. We went over to our friends' house for dinner and FHE and Little B blew out some matches (we didn't have any candles) on a cupcake. Also, we saved some presents that my parents sent so she could open them and she had a good time with that. Anyway, it was a fun little evening and today (her real birthday) she opened a package from my Nana (her great-nana) and she was in heaven! As you can see in the pic above, she got a little chair that she hasn't gotten out of, and a Dora doll that she has a death grip on. Needless to say, she Love love loved the stuff! Thanks so much Nana!
P.S. A little bad news that I forgot to mention in my previous post is that we won't have a computer in VA, so thursday will be our last post for a few months, unless I can find the internet somewhere close to where we'll be living. We'll see, so stay tuned!

Student Nursing 5k Fun Run and Some News

So today Kyle signed up to do this 5k Run for the Nursing Dept. and Brighton wanted to "exercise with daddy" as she puts it, so we all went there and decided to run it. It was a lot of fun and was a great fundraiser for the program. Kyle ran with Brighton the whole way and even picked up a friend's daughter to keep B company. Anyway, fun stuff!
On unrelated news, I know a few of you already know this, but some big news is that we're moving! We're actually moving next week for the summer and we're going to Virginia! It's a big move, but we're really excited. Kyle got a summer job there, and we'll be 45 minutes away from Washington D.C. so we'll get to see some sights. It'll be a good little adventure for the summer and then we'll be back here in Cedar for the school year. We will definitely miss the friends we've made here, but are excited to come back to the place we feel is home. So now you know!

My Hair

So you've probably seen from other pictures that I did my hair, but I thought I'd show the before and after results. A friend of mine in the ward did it and I'm a fan. The pics don't really show it that well, but I love it! I just needed a little change so here it is:

A long time gone

Okay so it's been a while, but we've been gone for a bit and I just wanted to update everyone on our happenings and whereabouts. So the week before General Conference, in order to get out of the studying fool's hair, we went to Annie and Joe's house and stayed there so all the sisters could go to this baby expo which was such a fun day out with all the girls and we even got to see Val and Alexandria who were visiting for the week from Washington. It was a ton of fun. After that, I headed further north to Ogden to stay with the Meegans for a week. We had been planning this trip for a while and it kept getting cancelled so it's been a long time coming. We had so much fun and Gracie was so good to Brighton. Brighton thought Gracie was seriously the coolest thing in the world and followed her around and copied everything she did. She is still talking about her! We did a lot of fun stuff that week including going to the children's museum, taking many baths together, going out to breakfast and chatting for hours on end. I think I can talk to Clarissa about anything in the world and it never gets old! It was too short of a trip but very enjoyed. We miss them already! Thanks so much for lettiung us stay there guys! Also, Kyle's mom works at the Ogden temple and happened to be in town when we were heading out so we got to see her for a little bit which was nice. Kathy gave Brighton her birthday present (the red puppy in the pic) and she now carries it around everywhere. Anyway, it was a funfilled week and we're settling back into Cedar life again. Thought we'd let you know we didn't drop off the face of the earth!

Easter Events

So this is a little overdue and by the coaxing of my father, I have needed to post! So here is the rundown on our Easter events. The day before, we painted Easter eggs for the first time and Brighton had a blast. She thought it was so cool when the eggs changed colors. Anyway, the next day, Brighton found her homeade easter basket (which we made for family night the previous week) and loved finding her eggs that were hidden in the house. As you can see, she was so proud of her discoveries and dove into the candy right away. Her favorite Easter item I think though, was the stuffed bunny that her great-nana sent to her. She's been carrying it around ever since she got it! Anyway, thanks Nana and we hope everyone had a great Easter day!

Spring Break

So Kyle has had the past week off for Spring Break and we decided to go up to the Provo Area to see his fam. It was a lot of fun to see everyone. We were able to go skiing for the first time in 2 years which was great! The down side of it all is that I forgot to even get the camera out so this is the only pic from the the whole 5 day trip! Anyway, it was fun and we really enjoyed the time off! Next week when he goes back to school, he'll be so busy, we won't see him till the end of the semester so we're loving the time together!

Pat's Proxy Party

One of our closest friends named Patrick Meegan had a Birthday on Friday. His family lives here in Cedar but Pat and Clarissa live all the way in Ogden, so we thought we'd have a party honoring him even though he wasn't able to attend. We had a great time with Kate, Bubs, Al, and Jo (or Grandma Jo as she is referred to by Brighton). They even brought Lil' B a present, because she stood as Pat's proxy for the day. We had cake, ice cream, and all the b-day foolery one could ask for! We had a great time and we hope Pat had a great time on his special day, because it only comes around every 4 years! Thanks Montoyas and Grammy Jo for a fun-filled evening!

Technical Difficulites

I'm trying to revamp the blog so excuse the changes and what not! Nothing else is going on here. The weather is getting nice, so we're trying to get out more often and hopefully we'll have more pics and blogworthy stories. Until then, have a great spring!

Tennis & Tupperware

Nothing much has been going on in our household lately. On Saturday, we went to our friend's tennis match which was fun. She plays for the SUU, so she's pretty good and it was actually fun to watch. Brighton is in love with Emmi (our tennis-pro friend) so she kept trying to go out onto the court. Brighton even made her a poster to hold up when she won the match! It was a lot of fun and changed things up from our mundane life. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera, so here are some pics of Brighton's favorite thing to do instead: climb into the tupperware cupboard and go crazy! Enjoy!

Happy V Day...Love, Cupid

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day! Brighton got all dolled up and transformed into a cupid for the occasion! It was fun to have a little photo shoot! And I wanted to give a shout out to my amazingly talented friend Beth Summers for creating this awesome kit I used for the this page! She is great and you can find her stuff here

Little Alaskan Chica

My parents got these Carhartt overalls for Brighton for Christmas and she loves to wear them! She looks like a true Alaskan in them! Thought I'd just share a few cute pics of her sporting the AK style! Thanks again Mom and Dad!

It hit me

I just wanted to join in with the many other people across the blogging world that have expressed their condolences concerning the passing of Pres. Hinckley, the 15th President of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It didn't really hit me until the funeral on Saturday, that he's actually gone and we won't hear his loving and humorous words over the pulpit ever again. I'm grateful he could return to his wife and our father in heaven, but it's still heart-breaking for the world and that's including me! He will be missed. Anyway, just wanted to share that with everyone.
