Ocean City

I'm hoping that this will be our last backtrack to Virginia, but who knows. I'm so scatter-brained and I have so many pics on my camera that I might just find something that we did and want to share. Can I just say that I'm grateful we have our computer back?! Anyway, one of the last weeks we were in VA, all the boys were gone, so some of us wives decided to go to the beach for the day. We went to a place called Ocean City. This was Brighton's very first beach experience and I was sad that Kyle had to miss out on it (He's obsessed with water and especially beaches) but was excited to go, seeing as I haven't been since our honeymoon. Well, it was a treat to go! Brighton loved the sand and thought she was so cool hanging out with the big girls. Here is us laying out. This was one of the first times I was able to lay on my stomach all summer because I could dig a whole in the sand for my belly to fit!

She really loved lounging on the towel just like all the other girls. I guess she's starting the whole tanning thing a little young!

There were some people dressed up like Spongebob and Patrick Star and Brighton really wanted to meet them, but when she got close to them, she was pretty scared. You can tell if you look close at the pic. Anyway, after a long day at the beach, we walked down the boardwalk (which is where Spongebob was) and it was a lot of fun. All-in-all, it was a great day and a fun way to spend the last of our east coast trip before packing up and leaving.

A Backtrack to Utah

Since I didn't really finish sharing the extent of my first Utah trip ( back when I came to visit for some doctor's appointments), I thought I'd recap a little before I moved on to the now of our lives. First, we were able to see our best friends Clarissa and Pat and Brighton was loving hanging out with her favorite friend Gracie. She still talk about Gracie all the time and I'm sure this probably isn't the best form of parenting, but if I want Brighton to do anything (namely lay down to rinse off in the bath tub or even eat food she doesn't like) I tell her that her friend Gracie does it and she hops to whatever I ask. Also, we were able to go to 7 peaks in Provo with Casey, Annie, Landon, and her Uncle Will, which was a blast. Brighton was kind of a weenie when it came to going down the water slides, but she loved the wave pool and had a ton of fun with her Uncle Will who was a big help with the little ones. I haven't been to a water park in at least 5 years and I wish we stayed longer! It was SO fun! And surprisely, the belly didn't get in the way on the slides!

Anyway, it was actually a great trip and Brighton was such a sport with all the traveling. We really enjoyed seeing all of our friends and family and now we're grateful to be back and close enough to them again!

Kanarraville Falls

We wanted to do something fun for Labor Day with Casey and Ty so we decided to hike the Kanarraville Falls which was a blast! We hiked through water and eventually found these cool falls and awesome rock formations. It was a ton of fun. We are so excited they came to live so close! It was a little rough with the belly but I made it through and it was well worth it. And the weather was perfect which made for a great Labor Day!

Large and in Charge

So I keep saying that I'll post pics of the prego me and finally here they are! Sadly, we haven't taken any before this, but at least they're here. I'm about 33 weeks along and feeling very large. It's unbelieveable how quick things are coming up, but exciting for all upcoming baby stuff. Brighton loves to kiss my belly and talk about "baby brother" that's kicking around in there. Anyway, things are going well, and more updates from the summer will be posted in due time!

We're back...and big!

I just wanted to let everyone know that we're back from our long trip to Virginia! We all made it in one piece after an enduring 29 hour drive across country with a very prego wife and a 2-year-old high strung little girl. It actually was a lot better than expected which was nice. We are settling in to Utah life again and remembering how much we love it here. I'm getting very large and will post pics of the huge belly soon. I just wanted to check in and let everyone know we're safe, sound, and Utahns again!

The Myers BFFs

We have some friends that live across the hall from us and Brighton has a new best friend. His name is Drae and they are inseparable. Reagan (Drae's dad) is in the nursing program with Kyle and Corynn (Drae's mom) and I workout together every day. We all became awesome friends quick. Well, things have worked out great because they do everything and play really well together. We love the Myers!

Kyle's Birthday

On June 7th, Kyle turned a big 2-8! He'd probably be upset that I announced his age to the world, but I had to share. Anyway, ever since we've been married I've always baked him a cake or gave him something that I thought he'd like, but really I liked it more than he did. A few examples would be chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, or basically anything chocolate, which he doesn't care for. So I was really thinking about it this year, and decided to make him a deep-dish strawberry rhubarb pie. His mom used to make it for him and he loved it so I finally made him something he enjoyed and hit the mark! Well, he had a great day! Happy Birthday 2 months ago babe!

Dairy Days

In June, we went to a thing called Dairy Days with all the wives in the office. It was at a farm close by and put on by 4H. They brought all their cows out, painted all the kids' faces, gave them cow ears, let them feed the cows, gave them homeade ice cream, and let them play in the barn. It was a ton of fun and Brighton thought she was a 'cowboy' when she wore the ears. Anyway, it was a bunch of fun and Brighton loved the whole thing!

The Last Grandparent Events

One of the last things we did while my parents were here was go to Mt. Vernon and see George Washington's tomb. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of his grave because there was a terrible storm coming through as you can see behind his house in the pic above. Anyway, we had a great time with my parents and Brighton couldn't get enough of G Pops and Nana. We can't wait to see them again in November. By then, they'll have 2 grandkids!

Bosox

I'd probably have to say the most exciting thing we did when my parents were visiting was go to a Red Sox baseball game. They were playing against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards and it was a blast! There were actually more Sox fans than Orioles fans and it was the Orioles stadium! Funny huh?! Anyway, Manny Ramirez (Long-haired guy pictured) was going to hit his 500th homerun of his career at this game, but unfortunately, he never hit it. It ended up being the next night, but that's okay. It was so fun to be in the atmosphere. I don't really like watching Baseball on TV, but this was a whole different experience! Super fun! And Brighton even learned how to say 'Go Red Sox!' She's been saying it ever since the game!

Long Zoo and Cathedral Day

Okay, so I know these posts haven't been the most entertaining, but it's basically for my benefit so I'll be able to remember our summer. Also, a little side note: This was all during the beginning of the summer, so my belly is much bigger now. I might posts pics of the largeness soon. We'll see. Anyway, so while my parents were in town, we went to the National Zoo, which was pretty fun and Brighton loved seeing all the animals. Her favorite were seeing the 'mingos' (Flamingos) as she calls them, becasue they were pink. The best part was that the zoo is free so it didn't cost us a thing! That's my bargain gene coming out for you. So after our long day of the zoo, my dad was still energized and had us walk a few more miles to see the National Cathedral which was actually pretty cool. It was amazing to see the intricacy of the building and the amazing stained glass all over. Helen Keller and Woodrow Wilson were buried there. It was interesting to see their tombs. The Cathedral kinda reminded me of the Salt Lake Temple from the outside. By the end of the day, Brighton was extremely beat, but it was worth it to see some cool stuff in a day.

Arlington and more

Continuing with our VA trip, while my parents were in town, we all decided to go to Arlington National Cemetary for Memorial Day which seemed pretty appropriate. We really enjoyed walking around and seeing the changing of the guard, the eternal flame and a lot of gravesites. It gave me a greater appreciation for our country and the people who serve for it. Also, right down the road is the Iwo Jima Statue so we took a walk and saw it. It is amazing how huge the statue is! All in all, it was a very patriotic day and we felt proud to be Americans.

It's an....interuption

I just wanted to interupt my Virginia trip events to tell you all the big news... It's a BOY! We found out last Friday and couldn't be happier! Now we'll have one of each! Anyway, just thought we'd let the blog world know the good news!

Strawberry Festival

While my parents were in VA, we went to a local strawberry festival which was fun except for the fact that all the strawberries were all gone! The festival was at a u-pick farm and all the strawberries had been picked by 9:00 in the morning! Anyway, we had a lot of fun and there were lots of kid things to do which made Brighton happy. Anyway, it was a fun day and we enjoyed having Nana & G-Pops around to play.

Finally An Update

Well, I'm back in Utah for a few weeks for some doctor's appointments, so I thought I'd update gradually. For the first little bit of our Virginia trip, we had a lot of visitors! My grandparents came up from Florida and met Brighton for the first time ever. They loved playing with her and it was fun to see them after more than 2 years. Then my parents came from Alaska to visit the capital and we all had a great time. It was fun to see 4 generations all together. I'll continue the trip's events tomorrow.

We're not dead

I just wanted to say thanks for all the kinds comments in the previous news on my blog. My friend has the internet for her job so she lets me get on every now and again, so you might be hear from me throughout the summer. Just to let everyone know, we're alive and well in Ashburn, VA and it's been really fun so far. The ride here was rough on Brighton but she was a trooper. Now that we're here, we've been to D.C. a time or two and have enjoyed the sights. My parents are coming this week so I'm excited. I'll keep everyone informed on our comings and goings sporadically. Talk to you soon!
