I just wanted to post a few pics of our little man. Even though he's had a little bit of a rough start in life, Porter's smiled through it all. What a trooper! I don't think I've seen a baby smile as much as he does this young! What a cutie!

Final Christmas Days

So Christmas was a success! Brighton had a great time and was so excited that Santa had come to our house. It really does get a lot more fun the older your kids get. She really understood what was going on. On Christmas Eve, we acted out the nativity, frosted Christmas cookies to leave for Santa, opened our Christmas pjs and had a great little time with Uncle Ty and Aunt Casey. Here's a little recap of our past few days. Brighton had to cut the cookies al by herself. She actually did a good job doing it!

More Days of Christmas

I haven't been very good at keeping up with our 12 days of Christmas so I wanted to share a few pics and events that have been enjoyed by the Comin Fam:

-Putting up stockings

-making snow angels

-looking at Christmas lights in the neighborhood

-Visiting Santa Claus

-Going to the Temple to see the lights ( and go through a session. It was my Birthday wish which was on the 20th.)
-Making Christmas cookies

-Going to the Creche Festival (A community event where everyone brings their nativities and displays them for all to see while local choirs perform)

-Hot Chocolate and listened to Christmas music

The 12 Days of Christmas

When I saw My best friend's sister's blog (Hillary) I fell in love with the idea of doing family activities for the 12 days of Christmas leading to Christmas Day. So we started our tradition yesterday (we started late but we were out of town the other days) by making a gingerbread house as a fam! Brighton thought it was the coolest thing and wanted to make another one today, but we moved on to putting the stockings up. Here are a few pics from the fun event. Brighton actually did a good job putting all the candy on and was ecstatic about the entire thing as you can see by the grin on her face! Here's the process...

And for the most part, this is what Porter was doing the whole time. He's been a better baby since the surgery as you can see.

Storybook Cavalcade

One of my favorite things about living in Cedar City is the fact that there's a festival or some sort of community event every other weekend. This last Saturday we went to the Storybook Cavalcade Christmas Parade and Brighton has been talking about it ever since! They had a ton of children's book characters on all the floats and it was a pretty elaborate parade. Here are a few pics of the event. Cinderella's Float (Brighton was a BIG fan!)

Brighton got to meet Elmo, although anytime a costumed person came close, she would freak out. She had to be really brave for Elmo.

Surgery & Thanksgiving Update

So we survived the Thanksgiving week which included a trip up to Primary Children's for Porter's hernia surgery. Kyle's mom came to meet Porter for the first time and visit us at the hospital which was great. The surgery went well and there were no complications so that was a relief. It was a routine procedure, so there wasn't too much to worry about, especially when you see all the other children there with so many more issues than a little hernia. I am so grateful we just have to deal with a hernia and our kids are healthy for the most part. I think I take advantage of our health and going to Primary and seeing all the major things families have to see their children go through gave me a reality check of how blessed we really are. I just have to say that Primary Children's is seriously the best hospital. They made sure you were okay with everything and very aware of what was happening. The entire staff was helpful and friendly and I definitely felt assured putting my 6-week-old in the arms of the anesthesiologist that he would be safe. It was an all-around great experience and I'd recommend the place to anyone who has a child with medical needs.

While we were in Salt Lake, Brighton stayed in Provo with her Aunt Annie and cousin Landon. She had a ton of fun and didn't even notice we were gone. Big thanks go to Annie for watching Brighton all day! I know Brighton definitely appreciated the time she spent with family, so thanks Annie.

So after we got the surgery over with, we went back home on Wednesday and celebrated Thanksgiving with Casey and Tyler and had an awesome dinner with all the trimmings (mostly thanks to Tyler's cooking perfection, but everyone was involved.). Casey had all these activities planned for Brighton so we had a very festive Thanksgiving and it was a blast. I am seriously dreading the day when we have to move away from them. It has been great having them so close. It's one of the things I'm most grateful for this year!
